Cover Supervisor

Start date: As soon as the right candidate is available

Salary: Grade F, £10.08 – 10.92 per hour

Hours: 32.50 hours per week, term time only plus TD Days

Location: Avon Valley College

Contract Term: Permanent

Set in beautiful grounds and surrounding countryside, and within easy reach of the historic cathedral city of Salisbury, the New Forest, and the spectacular Jurassic coast, Avon Valley College is ideally located in the south of Wiltshire.

Avon Valley College is the one secondary school within our multi-academy trust. It is much valued by its mixed civilian-military community. As part of the rebasing of troops from Germany, all local schools will see a rise in population between now and 2020. Owing to the doubling in size from 600 to 1150-1200, Wiltshire Council is in the process of a phased building programme to bring 18 new purpose-built classrooms to Avon Valley College. The Trust intends that phased programme to continue in order to refresh and renew the entire estate.

The school has undergone a significant period of change in the last year and standards are now rapidly climbing. Results this year were significantly better than in 2017 across the board. 2018-19 is a critical year in our journey, and we are looking for strong leadership to capitalise on the momentum we have built.

The role of the Cover Supervisor is to oversee classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff. This is a demanding role, as you deal with students of all ages and abilities in different subjects.

You must have a desire to work with young people, a calm and authoritative manner, and be adaptable. You will be educated to at least GCSE standard in literacy and numeracy (Grade C). The ideal candidate will be an individual who is considering a career in education.

If you are interested in finding out more, please contact Rachel Titchener on 01980 652467 to arrange a visit to the school.
