A Community Minded College
Many students feel they want to give something back to the local community they call home while studying at AV6.
Others want to take the opportunity to travel and help communities across the world. Volunteering, getting involved in fundraising or participating in an outreach project can be a fun way to do this. The varied range of outreach projects in which you can take part also provide great opportunities to gain work experience that can enhance your future career prospects
Every year student volunteers work in local community projects through college initiatives. There are lots of different opportunities to do this such as participating in the National Citizens Service, our own Raise and Give week, putting on events for comic relief, supporting local charity events such as glow in the park or the big sleep out , the shoe box appeal and helping at the local foodbank.
Help a new generation
In 6th form we provide mentor training to all of our students to give them the opportunity to help raise the aspiration and achievement's of year 7-11 students. In particular focusing on the integration of year 7 students into Avon Valley College.
Overseas projects—volunteer abroad
Want to travel abroad? Go on adventures or experience new cultures? Get involved in our volunteer abroad projects. Each year we decide on the location and charity whom we will support . Examples of this could be projects abroad such as the Foundation for Social Change and Inclusion summer camps in Bulgaria or Albania or participating in the projects abroad schemes in Kenya.
