Students celebrate A Level Results Day

A Level results were celebrated by students at Avon Valley College, part of Salisbury Plain Academies, as they collected their exam results today.

Juliette Baldwin, Acting Principal at the Durrington campus said: “We are very pleased to see an overall increase in the results this year. I was particularly pleased to see an increase in A Level performance with 11% A*/B grades alongside 65% Distinction*/Distinction.”

Head girl, Alex Clements, is celebrating gaining three A Levels. An A* in World Development, a B in Ethics and a C grade in English. She is intending to go to Chester University to study International Development.

Head Boy Rhys Tyrell also achieved three A Levels. An A in World Development, Distinction* in Business Studies and C in Media Studies. Rhys will be studying Forensic Science at Winchester University.

Further congratulations go to Matthew Money and Zak Cavill who are also heading to University. Matt gained three Distinctions in Sport and hopes to study Sports Management and Development at Portsmouth University and Zak gained Distinctions in Science and is planning to study Computing also at Portsmouth.

Tiana Benton, who gained Distinction stars in Health and Social Care and Sport has taken a full time carer post at a local care home and Ella Flint also gaining Distinction stars in Sport and Health and Social Care has been awarded an apprenticeship at Connells Estate Agents.

Mrs Baldwin added: “I’m so pleased that so many students have completed their 7 years at Avon Valley College with great results. I wish them all the very best for their future. They are a credit to the Salisbury Plain community.”
