L2 Gymnastics competition

Avon Valley College hosted the Level 2 School Games secondary gymnastics competition recently.

Four local schools took part in two different competitions, one for beginners and the other for intermediates. The students who are newer to gymnastics performed a set routine with the intermediates creating their own sequence containing set moves. All competitors also had to perform twice on the vault.

“A massive thank you to the two coaches from J Star Gymnastics who judged the floor competition,” said AVC PE teacher, Collette Harries.

The winner of the beginners was Millie from St Joseph’s Catholic School. AVC’s Jessica won the intermediate competition.

The aim of School Games is to inspire young people across the country to take part in more competitive school sport. Its supporting partners are Sport England and Youth Sport Trust.
