Duke of Edinburgh's Award

At Avon Valley College, we offer the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme to Years 9-11.  Students interested in the scheme should contact Mr D Macaulay or Miss E Bird (please see the Duke of Edinburgh Registration letter).

What's the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme?

It's a leading youth charity which gives all young people the chance to develop skills for work and life, fulfil their potential and have a brighter future.

From volunteering to physical activities, life skills to expeditions, achieving a DofE award is a passport to a brighter future, valued by employers and universities.

The Duke of Edinburgh programme is at three levels, which when completed, lead to a Bronze, Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Students can achieve the Award by completing a personal programme of activities in four sections (five if they are going for Gold) – Volunteering, Physical, Skills, Expedition and for Gold, a Residential.  They will also help people or the community, getting fitter, developing skills, going on expeditions and taking part in a residential activity (Gold only).  For more information, please visit: https://www.dofe.org/.
