The Bridge Project

The BridgeThe Bridge is a registered Christian charity working on behalf of local churches in 16 primary schools, seven secondary schools and a sixth form college within a 12-mile radius of Salisbury. The Bridge team contribute to many areas of school life including: small group work with students requiring greater motivation or a boost in self-esteem; one to one work; regular drop-ins; loss and bereavement courses; after school/lunchtime clubs; assemblies/collective worship and RE lessons. Over 30 people work for The Bridge, predominantly as volunteers with a few paid staff.

Dan Chirnside (Secondary Schools Team Leader) can be found in Avon Valley College every Friday where he is available for students who might need a listening ear, or someone to chat to during break or lunchtime. Dan is a graduate from Moorlands College, he has an honours degree in Applied Theology, and a wide range of experience working with young people in a variety of contexts.

In addition to the pastoral support that Dan provides, there is a weekly drop-in, ‘Tea & Toast’, for 6th form students and a termly drop-in, ‘Coffee & Cake’, for members of staff. The Bridge also run a mentoring scheme where some students are given the opportunity to regularly talk to a reliable role model from within the community. Please click here for more information.

All the administration for the project is handled from their on-site office, where Director, Alex Ewing, Project Administrator, Tara Hibbs, and Treasurer/Fundraiser, Barbara Morse, can be found.
